Alucore

ALUCORE is a light-weight aluminium composite panel consisting of two cover sheets and a honeycomb core of aluminium.

ALUCORE is a composite material for a variety of applications in transport, architecture or industrial production, showing excellent product properties such as extraordinary flatness, large variety of colours and high formability.

The aluminium honeycomb core gives the ALUCORE composite panel a high rigidity and an extremely low weight. Therefore ALUCORE provides the decisive advantage where very high demands are made on the material for applications such as: façade cladding, roofing, exposed to extremely high wind load and for large self-supporting roofs.

Also, ALUCORE has an increased weather resistance, as the material sides are especially lacquered for this purpose and in order to increase resistance to industrial pollution.

applications / uses

ALUCORE honeycomb aluminium composite panels are the favorite choice for engineers, architects and designers because they combine mechanical properties such as rigidity of exterior sides with a special aesthetic look. The special technological process allows manufacturing panels of large sizes up to 9 m. ALUCORE composite panels allow for a wide range of applications with ordinary tools.

ALUCORE is the perfect material not only for outdoor applications such as façade cladding, roofs, balconies, shelters, but also for interior design such as artistic ceilings.

Structural details for the Alucore honeycomb aluminium composite panels
Structure of the Alucore honeycomb aluminium composite panels

The standard core on the ALUCORE honeycomb aluminium composite panels is manufactured from aluminium sheets made of AlMn alloys (EN AW 3003). Cell size (B) is approximately 6.3 - 19 mm. The aluminium cover sheets of the ALUCORE panels consist of corrosion-resistant Peraluman alloys (AlMg) and may be used in a decorative or functional way, depending on the purpose of application.

Structure of the Alucore panels:

  • H: Total thickness (6 mm - 25 mm)
  • d1: Thickness of aluminium front sheet (1.0 mm)
  • d1: Thickness of aluminium back sheet (0.5 mm - 1.0 mm)

Unlike the conventional honeycomb aluminium composite panels, ALUCORE components are glued in a continuous process. ALUCORE do not become brittle but they keep their resistance. Urban planners, architects and designers appreciate ALUCORE because it combines high mechanical properties, such as the tensile strength of the cover sheets, with outstanding processing and aesthetic features.

With regard to surface finishing, high-quality lacquering systems with optimum resistance to weather and industrial pollution are used exclusively in the production of ALUCORE honeycomb aluminium composite sheets. These properties are kept by using fluoro-resins. Top lacquers are used for standard finishes.

Alucore characteristics and advantages:

  • Large variety of colours and perfect flatness
  • Light weight and extremely high rigidity
  • Unlimited planning and design due to high formability
  • Vibration-damping, therefore no additional sound-damping needed
  • Simple processing using conventional tools (for folding and bending)
  • Smooth handling on site, even with large size panels
  • Low cost for substructures and fasteners
  • Short construction time, low costs
  • Excellent weather resistance and long-term properties
  • Recyclable, low impact on the environment

finishes / colours

ALUCORE honeycomb aluminium composite sheets are available in both matt and metallic colours and the variety of colours is completed with the anodised and mill-finished surfaces.
